show #114

svvr 2016 – the third installment of this conference – is concluding as this show goes to air: three days of the newest vr gear in the expo hall plus panels and talks about immersive storytelling, 360 video best practices and a fireside chat with palmer luckey.

what more do you want?

well, if you are a drax files fan you want linden lab ceo ebbe altberg give you a bit more info on the just announced invite for creatots to project sansar. and that is what we have today – a brief chat in the hallway about what we can expect from this next generation virtual world.

all the other hours of interviews conducted with vr luminaries and product pitch-men/women = you have to wait another week.

here is ebbe:

and as indicated: all the other stuff – infinadeck, project alice, drax talking to timoni west from unity, a conversation with jeremy bailenson from stanford, tony parisi, philip rosedale and all the rest = patience folks: coming in the next few weeks!

oh and it shall be releaved why a 60k us$ 360 video camera is perhaps not that much better than one for merely 399 us$…

Did anyone ever meet somebody who is actually happy and satisfied with the new Windows 10? I never met anybody and I never read a positive article in the media about it. Most people hate it and most people hate Microsoft. Large countries like Russia, Brasil or China even consider banning it completely. So why make Sansar exclusive for that old dinosaur from the past and not make it platform independent and work for Linux, Mac etc. from the beginning? HiFi and SL worked on all platforms from Day 1, so where is the problem?

    1. I think this is all a work in progress. They are really designing with longevity and sustainability in mind, one step at a time! In re Windows 10 = I want to smash my screen when that prompt pops up “UPGRADE NOW!!!!” đŸ˜‰

Yes, don’t use Win10. Give Linux a try. I would recommend Linux Mint. You can try it by putting it on an USB stick and booting from there. It has a similar desktop as Windows. So easy to switch. And you might especially enjoy the aspect that it is free and built by a community of volunteers, just like SL. It is all open source and it is secure. No backdoors, no adware, no spyware. No need for a firewall or anti virus. 95% of all software, you can download from the application manager with one click and it will update automatically. Never bother with individually updating software again. Even your fancy editing software might still run on it, if you put it in Virtualbox.

Win 10 is my favorite OS of all.. I live and respect all the varieties of Linux.. each has value. For OpenSim, Suse plays best. Debian started most of us out and continues as the grandpa of the family.
Get off the Win 10 troll taxi . you don’t know what you’re talking about.

    1. Eva says:

Well, thanks to Win10, Microsoft knows what YOU are talking about;)
