finally a talk about speculative fiction coming from africa and the african diaspora all over the world. oghenechovwe donald ekpeki and zelda knight are talking “dominion” which is their anthology of fantastic stories (and one poem too!), we dive into the dominance and conflation of african-american writing plus a look into the indie publishing business. how to bring more inclusivity to speculative fiction is the question. do we have answers? you be the judge!
and now for more audio/visual goodies to provide more context:
- the original livestream of the book club show
- the post game q&a featuring dilman dila
- some of shyla’s slides she prepared for the event [i wish we had discussed the rich history of the yoruba religion but soon we will have experts back on the show for that!]
- we had horses for the show and the tree of truth ….
- zelda aka olivia used to have some really wonderful youtube videos that she hopefully starts up again soon [courtesy of her small press aurelia leo]
- some reading of chovwe’s fantastic novella “ife-iyoku, tale of imadeyunuagbon” [courtesy african speculative fiction society]
- what else is happening in second life? well apparently there is this thing called tiktok?
