Reblogged this on Jo Yardley's Second Life.
Great show! But just an idea, why don’t you film yourself sitting in the attic recording the show and put it on Youtube. People might like to just have something to look at, eventhough there is not much action.
good idea for sure but problem: tons of additional logistics and editing – we do live to tape but there are many little snippets that are tweaked in post production & do add another layer is at this point not feasible simply because of not available time!
You mention the expensive tier. An interesting fact is, that Europeans not only have to pay additional 20% VAT on the already very expensive tier, the EUR-USD conversion rate also dropped within the past few months from 1,40 USD/EUR to todays only 1,09 USD/EUR, making land for Europeans tremendously more expensive. We are at a point where you can lease serveral cars for the amount of money that the Lindens charge for a simple region. Considering the uncertainty whether most residents will migrate to SL2 soon, they could at least drop the 1000 USD set up fee.
Thank Mr Schäuble for the conversion rate drop.
I completely agree, especially about the 1000$ setup fee.
Running a sim and breaking even is hard enough as it is, but extra costs, fees and tier make it even harder.
It stifles the creativity of a lot of people, hundreds, if not thousands of users would love to own a region and build stuff, but just can’t afford it.
I myself am sort of stuck because I can’t afford to expand.
I understand it is difficult and risky for LL to change the system, but it is worth considering anyway.
Having said that, I do think they will do things differently in SL2.
At the moment i miss all my notifications because they are badly organised in the UI so to get more messages seems pointless, i use my email to manage all offline messages plus i don’t have to login to to see them, i use my phone.
It’s been recently reported that LL are working on a better way to manage notifications. Maybe there is a chance that being able to manage notifications better would bring more relevance to the premium rise in notification cap?
But unless the new notification management is synergised with SL Web Profiles for online viewing then its never going to be as efficient as having IM’s come via email.
